Sheffield United are looking to tie down their younger players to new contracts and Daniel Jebbison is the next in line it seems.
The Blades are working hard behind the scenes to get younger players on new contracts. The likes of Will Osula, Oliver Arblaster, Femi Seriki and Jili Buyabu have all been handed fresh terms in recent months.
Those younger players have been a priority for Chris Wilder, with the gaffer admitting discussions with more senior players have been put on hold for now.
However, when it comes to Daniel Jebbison, Wilder has said those discussions are still ongoing. Indeed, the Blades boss has admitted he’s even been directly involved this time, believing Jebbison wants to stay and it’s just a matter of time now.
Chris Wilder explains Daniel Jebbison contract stance
Speaking to The Sheffield Star about the 20-year-old, Wilder seems confident that Jebbison is going to put pen to paper soon enough.
“He’s one of the younger ones. That was put on the backburner because of his injury but there’s been real positive talks between Steve [Bettis], his representative, his family and me – I’ve been involved in that as well. I know the boy wants to stop, he’s never given any other indication to me and his family hasn’t said that he wants to move away. And we’ll be delighted if we can tie another of our promising youngsters up,” Wilder said.

Jebbison has been out with a mystery injury all season and hasn’t featured at all. However, the Blades boss admitted in the same presser here that Jebbison is just a few weeks away from returning.
If he is fit, Jebbison could well get some minutes between now and the end of the season.
With Oli McBurnie yet to sign new terms, Cameron Archer set to return to Villa and Ben Brereton-Diaz heading back to Spain, Wilder could look to give ‘Jebbo’ some vital minutes ahead of getting him ready for next term.
