Iliman Ndiaye with two assists as Sheffield United u23s see off Crewe 2-0

There was more good news for Sheffield United youngster, Iliman Ndiaye, as the 20-year-old caught the eye against Crewe.

Playing for the under-23s after flirting with the first XI in the last few weeks, Ndiaye once again garnered attention for all the right reasons, setting up both goals in a 2-0 Blades win.

First, Ndiaye nodded neatly into the path of substitute Frank Maguire, who fired home to give United the lead. Ndiaye then showed persistence and work-rate to win the ball back, before laying the ball into the path of another sub in Angelo Cappello to seal the win.

There was almost icing on the cake for Ndiaye too, as he hit the post in the dying embers of the game. Overall, though, it was another fine days work for the young midfielder and another gentle nudge in the direction of Chris Wilder and Alan Knill.

Iliman Ndiaye looking the part, will he get Sheffield United minutes soon?

While Chris Wilder has selected the young players in certain squads this season, he’s so far resisted the temptation to throw them in.

Barring Antwoine Hackford’s cameo appearance at Crystal Palace, the Blades boss has stuck with his more experienced players in the main, albeit the likes of Max Lowe, Jayden Bogle, and Rhian Brewster have been regularly involved.

Ndiaye is doing all he can it seems to get his chance. However, while United are battling hard to survive in the Premier League, it’s difficult to see the Blades boss simply chucking him in at the deep end.

Should United be down with four or five games remaining, however, then we might just get a glimpse of Ndiaye and a few others before the curtain comes down on this most odd of seasons.
