Ravel Morrison made his debut for Middlesbrough last night, playing 70 minutes as Jonathan Woodgate’s men drew 2-2 with Wigan.
Morrison signed for Boro during the January window. After being deemed surplus to requirements by Chris Wilder, the former Man United man is hoping to make an impact at the Riverside between now and the end of the season.
Jonathan Woodgate has already sung the praises of Morrison. Indeed, the former Leeds defender was delighted to capture ‘Ravel’. It looks likely, then, that Woodgate is prepared to give Morrison his chance given tonight’s selection.
After a number of failed spells around the world, Morrison will be hoping Boro is finally the club for him. If everything clicks, then the former QPR and West Ham might well become a hero for the fans on Teesside.
But how did Ravel Morrison get on during his debut? Was it more of the same, or did he make a big impression?
How Ravel fared during his first start in a Middlesbrough shirt
According to the onlooking Anthony Vickers of the Teesside Gazette, Morrison put in quite the performance on his debut.
The respected local reported described Ravel’s display as ‘having a bit of swagger’ about and praise his ‘electric footwork’ at times in the game. Furthermore, Vickers also pointed out how Morrison was willing to do the defensive work, too.
That is a huge thing for Morrison. If he is to be successful, he has to muck in when needed you would assume.
It seems, then, that the Sheffield United man had a good time in his first appearance in the northeast. Flashes of brilliance, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to try and make things happen. That’s the Ravel Morrison everyone wants to see.
Hopefully, things can pan out well for Morrison and he can finally show everyone what he is all about.
