Sheffield United striker Lys Mousset got his second and third goals of pre-season in midweek at Doncaster, and manager Slavisa Jokanovic is hoping to see the best of the Frenchman.
Mousset is back at full fitness it seems and started the game up top against Doncaster. He smashed in two goals to continue his fine pre-season form, albeit United have had just the two games.
Questions have been raised about the Frenchman’s attitude and work-ethic in the past. Aside from the niggling injury problems, Mousset has struggled with off-field issues, and hasn’t even completed 90 minutes yet.

But Jokanovic is said to be happy with Mousset. And the Serbian believes the striker is focused at the moment on what he needs to do.
“I knew about Lys before I came here. I know he is a player who can give opposition teams a lot of problems and bring a lot of things to us. This is all just part of the process, about us trying to get ready” Jokanovic told the Sheffield Star.
MORE UNITED STORIES
“I try with him the same as others; I encourage him and so do my staff. He can put a disappointing year behind him. He must be positive and show a desire to change the story. I detect he is focused, he is concentrated and he is enjoying the work. He can take a step forward and change the story.”
Like a new signing?
Make no mistake, having a fully fit and focused Lys Mousset is a good thing for this Sheffield United squad. He has the pace and movement our other strikers don’t, which makes him invaluable.
We’ve already spoken before how Moose faces a huge summer. And it seems he is answering those lingering questions in style.
Let’s not forget, Mousset tore certain Premier League defences to shreds when he was flying. Those included the likes of Manchester United, City, and Everton. If he can replicate that form in the Championship, then the sky is the limit for him.
Jokanovic hasn’t really spoken about individuals too much. But the feeling from within is that he and his staff like what they see from Mousset.
The striker has been given a serious lifeline here. And like all Sheffield United fans, we are desperate for him to take it with both hands.
