Sheffield United manager, Paul Heckingbottom, has delivered a timely injury update on Bosnian defender, Anel Ahmedhodzic.
The Blades star was ruled out over the international break with the Bosnian FA suggesting Ahmedhodzic might even miss up to four weeks of action with injury. However, Heckingbottom was unhappy with those comments and told the press last week that Ahmedhodzic had never even left Sheffield to join up with the int’l squad.

However, Ahmedhodzic did miss out at the weekend against Birmingham and that led to fans assuming the defender is indeed another casualty. But Heckingbottom, speaking ahead of QPR tonight, says the Bosnian might well be back for the weekend.
“Not for QPR, no. But yeah (maybe for the weekend v Stoke). Obviously we’re led by how things reacts, but we’re really pleased where he is and how he’s reacted. In terms of him now, he’s not having any symptoms now so we’ll just keep moving him forward,” Heckingbottom said on SUTV.
United are desperate to get some more bodies back into the squad. A nightmare glut of injuries has threatened to derail the early part of the season. Thankfully, United remain top of the table and with the likes of Bogle, Sharp and now Ahmedhodzic now coming back, things are looking up.

Sheff U News View: Ahmedhodzic Return Can’t Come Soon Enough
Anel Ahmedhodzic has been one of the stars of the show this season and quite how United got him ahead of other clubs is a credit to the board and Heckingbottom.
But the sooner he is back, the better. This Sheffield United side are a better team with Anel in it. His defensive qualities are obvious but his bursts forward, not to mention his three goals already are crucial.
This is good news, this, from Heckingbottom. A return for Ahmedhodzic at Stoke will do just nicely for the Blades.
