Arsenal reportedly bid around £17m for Sheffield United midfielder, Sander Berge, this week and it’s safe to say it’s nowhere near what’s required.
Different reports have emerged in recent weeks about Berge and the release clause in his contract. A crazy report from Italy suggested it was around £12m. However, we all know that is wrong, and it’s widely accepted and known locally that the clause is actually around £35m.
Arsenal’s offer, then, comes in at less than half what United are hoping to land for Berge.
The big Norwegian is expected to leave Bramall Lane this summer. And it comes as no surprise. The former Genk player was always going to use United as a stepping stone. Relegation has simply accelerated his exit.
My Revenge On Ben Foster
But what do Sheffield United fans think Berge is worth? Is he worth the sale, and if so, how much should the club be looking to accept?
Well, we ran the question by Blades fans using our Sheffield United.News Twitter account, and the responses were pretty unanimous.
Here, then, is what some Blades fans had to say in response to what the future should hold for Sander Berge and Sheffield United.
It’s only a good deal if reinvested.

I just can’t get past the fact I thought we were going to see a really good player flourish and enjoy him before he inevitably got picked off.

Like to see him in the Championship to see just what he is capable of but if we get our money back it will be a good deal. His best game was v Spurs but tbh never seen him boss midfield, dominate or turn a game around.

If we can sell for £35mil it’s a no brainer.

Sander Berge was usually Uniteds best player; unfortunately United played collectively worse when he played 🤷♂️. Will always wish him well, it was 1 dream too far

Need to sell and he’s the biggest asset so he has to go just hope new manager gets a few £ to bring a couple of players in
