Celtic will not be signing Sheffield United defender, George Baldock, during the summer transfer window, according to Yorkshire Live’s Nathan Hemmingham.
Reports in recent weeks have suggested Celtic are keen on bringing Baldock to Scotland, with suggestions of a £5m bid apparently in the offing.
However, as we’ve previously mentioned when it comes to that £5m figure, it’s a sum that simply won’t be catching United’s attention.
And answering questions from fans today for Yorkshire Live, Hemmingham confirmed a similar thought process when it came to Baldock to Celtic.

“I keep seeing the reports of Celtic and Baldock but it’s just a non-starter,” Hemmingham said.
“Baldock has the same agent as Celtic manager, Ange Postecoglou, which might explain why he’s being linked with a move there. But they have not submitted a bid. And they haven’t shown they have the finances to afford what United would want anyway, so this is going nowhere.”
Baldock is expected to remain a key player for United under the guidance of Slavisa Jokanovic. Despite the signing and emergence of Jayden Bogle, Baldock has remained the number one choice at right-back.
Bang on the money, Baldock to Celtic was never on for that money
Hemmingham’s explanation here is bang on the money and the note about Baldock sharing the same agent as the new Celtic boss explains a lot.
United might have been tempted had a big bid come in. But, realistically, the Blades would be looking for closer than £15m for their ‘star man’.
Baldock could also thrive under Jokanovic. The Serbian is expected to deploy attacking football. ANd with the full-backs likely to be key, Baldock may find himself integral again.
