'He's brilliant': Baldock says Sheffield United teammate is one of the best players in the Championship

George Baldock might have taken some of the headlines thanks to his fine strike for Sheffield United against Swansea yesterday, but the defender still found time to praise his teammates.

In particular, Baldock was asked post-match about United loanee, Morgan Gibbs-White. The attacking midfielder was back to his scintillating best against Swansea and helped himself to two goals and an assist in a 4-0 win.

Gibbs-White now has seven Championship goals and five assists for the Blades. And according to Baldock, the Wolves man is right up there with some of the best in the league.

“Oh he’s brilliant. We all know the talent he is. Obviously it’s taken him a little bit of time to get back, like it has all of us you know. We’ve all had that little bit of time out of the team,” Baldock told SUTV.

“You can see now he’s getting in his stride. You know, he’s one of the best players in the league and I think I mentioned, he’s up there with the most talented players in the squad and his quality shines through.”

Gibbs-White stayed put in January despite fears Wolves would look to bring him back. And in hindsight, it was probably the best signing Sheffield United could have made in the window.

Our View: Gibbs-White One Of The Best Loans Ever

There have been some good players at Bramall Lane over the years on loan. As well as some bad ones, of course.

Recent times have seen the likes of Dean Henderson leave a lasting impression on the club and if Gibbs-White carries on, he’ll be right up there in Blades fans’ eyes.

As Baldock says, he is one of the best players in this league. Even in United’s deep squad, he still manages to stand out on a weekly basis. He is key to United’s promotion hopes and if he stays fit, then the Blades might just sneak that playoff spot, or even the top two! You just never know, especially with a player like Gibbs-White available.
