Everton are ready to beat Leeds and Sheffield United to the signing of exciting Scottish youngster, Lewis Pirie, according to reports.
The Daily Record reports how Everton boss Frank Lampard has had Pirie watched this week. It was the ideal time to turn up as well, as Pirie netted four times in a 5-2 win for Aberdeen’s under-16s against Dundee United. And on the back of that display, The Toffees are now ready to make their move.
Everton’s potential move comes in the midst of interest from Sheffield United, Leeds, and Brighton. Reports last month stated how the Blades and others had been watching Pirie.

Pirie, who is still only 15, is widely regarded as one of the brightest young talents emerging from Scotland. The market north of the border has proved attractive for English teams in recent seasons. Indeed, United manager Paul Heckingbottom will be well aware of the talent there. Heckingbottom was formerly in charge of Hibernian.
Focus has shifted to players from Scotland in recent seasons due to the success some have had. The likes of Andy Robertson (Liverpool), John McGinn (Aston Villa), and Kieran Tierney (Arsenal) are all good examples.

Pirie, then, seems to be the next one on the production line from Scotland.
Sheff U News View: Lewis Pirie Won’t Be Turning Everton Down
Unfortunately for United, when it comes to battling the Premier League clubs for young talent we face an uphill battle.
Everton will be able to offer more in terms of the financial package. Further, Frank Lampard is an exciting name to work under for any young player. The Toffees will be hoping the draw of Lampard is key for them in this transfer and future ones.
If Pirie does choose Everton – which seems likely – then The Blades can’t be too disheartened. United are in the right pond here and eventually, we’ll pluck out a star in the making at a bargain price.
