Sheffield United could lose one of their stalwarts of recent years to European giants Olympiacos, according to new reports.
The Blades are facing a tricky summer with a number of players out of contract, including a good few who are part of Chris Wilder’s current first-team plans.
One of those players is defender George Baldock. The right-back has been injured recently and is out of contract in the summer.
And according to the Sheffield Star, Greek side Olympiacos are keen on taking Baldock off United’s hands over the summer.
Olympiacos want to sign George Baldock
According to the Star, the Greek side are looking at a possible deal to bring Baldock over to Europe as they bid to strengthen their ranks.
Despite being one of the biggest and most successful sides in Greece, this year has seen them struggle and they are currently in fourth place in the Greek top flight behind rivals such as AEK Athens and Panathinaikos.

Of course, Baldock has been linked with a move to Greece before and since making his bow for the national team, those calls seem to have got louder and louder.
At the moment, there is no sign of a new contract for Baldock at Bramall Lane and it remains to be seen if the Blades have a year option in the club’s favour.
Dubbed ‘unbelievable‘ after playing through the pain barrier for Greece previously, Baldock has been a key player at United under both Chris Wilder and Paul Heckingbottom.
A tough call coming
There’s definitely a tricky decision coming when it comes to George Baldock and Sheffield United, and that’s from both sides.
For United, the club has Jayden Bogle – although he needs tying down to fresh terms too – and youngsters like Sam Curtis and Femi Seriki coming through the ranks.
For Baldock himself, this move to Olympiacos might be a once in a lifetime chance that he simply can’t turn down as he enters his 30s.
Either way, United fans will be happy to accept whatever the decision is. If he stays, then the Blades have a top, experienced right-back to call upon. If he leaves, then nobody will begrudge him the move and he’ll leave a modern day legend of the club.
