Emmanuel Dennis admits Aston Villa connection despite Sheffield United links

Reported Sheffield United target, Emmanuel Dennis has admitted that he speaks regularly to Aston Villa pair Marvelous Nakamba and Wesley.

Dennis is set for a move away from Club Brugge this summer after their manager, Philippe Clement admitted last weekend that the striker will probably move on.

The Blades have been one of a number of clubs mentioned with having an interest in the striker. The likes of Arsenal and Watford have also been mentioned as Brugge look to bring in around £22m for their star man.

However, Dennis – who scored twice at the Bernabeu this season in the Champions League – has potentially opened the door for a move to Aston Villa if they can stay up.

What has Emmanuel Dennis had to say about a Premier League move?

Speaking to Sky, Dennis joked that he still has regular contact with Nakamba and Wesley. The striker played alongside the pair last year before both sealed moves to Villa Park.

“(Marvelous) Nakamba is like my brother so we talk, and with Wesley also, we make jokes,” Dennis said.

“I’ll say ‘how is it over there?’, and they always say, ‘this place is difficult, they like to gym all the time’, and I say ‘this is the Premier League, my friend, you have to work’.

Those comments could well be perceived as a ‘come and get me plea’ to Villa, although they could also just be off the wall comments by the 22-year-old.

The Nigerian striker has scored nine times in all competitions this season. His current club, Club Brugge, were awarded the league title a few weeks back as the season was cancelled.

It means that, in all likelihood, that Dennis has played his last game for the Belgian outfit.
