Sheffield United fans were once again left upset and wound up as the club confirmed the departures of key coaching staff yesterday.
The likes of Darren Ward, Matt Prestridge, and Mike Allen have all followed Chris Wilder out of the door, with the club confirming the news in a short statement yesterday.
And while news of the departures wasn’t exactly unexpected, with just Alan Knill still at the club it seems from Wilder’s backroom team, the message from the club didn’t go down well.
As with the message about Chris Wilder, the statement from United was short and to the point, offering only a smattering of thanks to people who have played a key role in the club’s rise.
Still, United fans wait for a proper send off for Wilder. Although, given Prince Abdullah’s comments last week, it seems that is unlikely now.
Some Blades fans, then, took to Twitter to vent their frustration once again at a seeming lack of compassion and thanks from the United board.
The social media platform was full of unimpressed Blades fans, with many feeling the club is undervaluing key pers onnel.
Here’s a look at what some Sheffield United fans had to say.
This is an incredibly poor statement & your general communication has been terrible in the last month. Whatever has happened behind the scenes, the lack of acknowledgement towards some of the most important members of staff that the club has had for years is totally unnecessary.

Shocking treatment of a team that has given so much. Now you will be judged on what happens next. Hope it’s success but somehow I can’t see it.

Words can’t thank these guys enough for the work they’ve done the past 5 years. It seems whoever controls PR at United or the board, is taking that too literally 😤
Why we can’t send a genuine thank you to these guys I don’t know

Odd. All 3 have done amazing for us with & before the Wilder era. Prestridge came after Wilder but looked to be talented & still very young. Don’t get it. An explanation would have been good.

Embarrassing post. There’s a typo in there too.
