Dozy Mmobuosi has been speaking to Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel this evening about potentially taking over at Sheffield United.
The Nigerian business is close to coming to an agreement to take over the Blades. It will bring an end to Prince Abdullah’s reign at the club.
And Mmobuosi, speaking to Ferdinand tonight, outlined what his immediate plans would be for the Blades.
“The idea for me, short-term, definitely you’re going to see a lot of development at the current level. Training ground, fan experience, from the hotel,” Mmobuosi said.
“The ground, we’re going to invest there and I’m going to be practical and I’m open to the best advice. Long-term, nothing stops the fans from participating in ownership at some point. So it’s not short-term for me. I don’t know how to do short-term. My family and I are going to be very committed to this club and to the city of Sheffield, when this is done.”

“I want to leave this to my family, and then they can leave it to their family.”
Sheffield United News View: Mmobuosi seems to understand what’s needed at United
The things Dozy Mmobuosi mentions here are all issues United fans can relate to. The issues with the training ground and academy have been well-document for years. Chris Wilder wanted it changing, and so did Slavisa Jokanovic, and so does Paul Heckingbottom.
Investment in those fields would be most welcome.
In terms of the ground and fan experience, that’s also something that’s so important. The hotel was mentioned and most Blades fans would love that to be re-opened for match days. it’s especially important for the club’s image if we do win promotion.
It’s all good stuff from Mmobuosi so far. Everything he said seemed positive. He knew his subject, seemed passionate about coming into football, and appeared to love Sheffield.
