Report: Derby hoping to win race for Sheffield United man on deadline day

Derby County are hoping to beat off a number of clubs and win the race to sign Sheffield United youngster, Will Osula.

Osula is expected to be allowed out on loan by Paul Heckingbottom, who has a range of attacking options at his disposal already. It was widely believed Burton would sign Osula. The Brewers’ use of Daniel Jebbison impressed United last season and there is shared belief Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink can help Osula.

However, League One big hitters Ipswich and Derby are now in race, according to Alan Nixon. The Rams are hoping they can beat off the competition with their pitch and sheer size of club in the lower leagues. That, plus their exciting young manager, Liam Rosenior, could turn the tide in their favour.

Derby signed Sheffield United’s David McGoldrick in the summer. There is every chance Didzy has put a kind word in for Osula, having seem first hand the youngster’s talents last season.

Our View: Derby A Fine Club For Osula

United and Osula have a big decision to make here when it comes to the young striker. It’s clear a host of clubs want to take him. The big question is where is best for him.

It’s vital he plays games regularly where ever he signs. Ipswich and Derby have big squads already so might hinder him a tad, albeit they are huge clubs for him to gain experience at.

Heckingbottom will likely have a big say in things here. He will know what he wants from Osula’s spell away from the club and you’d expect a sound, reasoned decision to come in the coming hours.
