Derby boss on Bogle and Lowe to Sheffield United rumours

Derby County manager, Phillip Cocu, has responded to rumours Jayden Bogle and Max Lowe are joining Sheffield United.

The full-back duo have been linked in a £10m double deal with the Blades, having impressed at Derby since both coming through the academy.

Lowe has played 48 times for the club, with the 23-year-old having also spent time away on loan with Aberdeen and Shrewsbury Town.

At 20, Bogle is younger but has already made 91 appearances for the Rams. And Cocu is aware that the pair could be leaving Pride Park soon.

“I know about the rumours, but at the moment I cannot confirm. It is like incomings, I am happy to confirm it when I can,” the Dutchman told Derbyshire Live.

“I said last week, in the press conference as well, it could be that players will go out and there will definitely be players coming in, but I cannot confirm it as this time.”

The defenders will provide some much needed competition in the wing-back positions at Bramall Lane. George Baldock and Enda Stevens impressed in the roles last term in the club’s first Premier League season in 12 years.

Baldock and Stevens started every league match in 2019/20. But Chris Wilder can’t rely on that being the case next campaign.

Bogle would represent an alternative to Matty Cash. Cash has joined Aston Villa for £16m after also being strongly linked with United.

Despite his age the England Under-20 international already has a lot of experience. As well as playing regularly under Cocu, the right-back was also a firm fixture under his predecessor, Frank Lampard.

Lowe generally plays at left-back and would compete with Stevens for a place in the starting XI. However, he can play on the right himself, as well as in midfield.
