David McGoldrick will leave Sheffield United this summer after four years at the club after the club confirmed they won’t renew his contract.
McGoldrick has been an immense player for the Blades since arriving on a free transfer. He scored crucial goals as United won promotion to the Premier League and despite scoring just twice during that first year in the top flight, he was one of United’s best players.
The following year, McGoldrick top scored for United with nine goals and once again showed his value. However, he couldn’t help the Blades avoid relegation. This season, he was playing a key role in the squad before injury cruelly robbed him of what has proven to be his final season at Bramall Lane.
However, McGoldrick will be remembered fondly among United fans, and he’s taken to Instagram to post a message of thanks to the club and United fans ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Nottingham Forest.

McGoldrick could be in line for a fine send off tomorrow. If United get the win against Forest, there could well be a little thank you in place for ‘Didzy’.
Our View: McGoldrick One Of United’s Best Ever Signings
Signed for nothing, after being on trial, and then going on to have the impact he has, David McGoldrick has been outstanding for Sheffield United.
It’s a shame he’s not been able to play in the run-in and injury has done him over a bit. However, there surely won’t be a Blades fan out there who won’t appreciate what Didzy has brought to the table.
McGoldrick will go down as a United legend, and rightly so. Hopefully, he gets a send off tomorrow that will be richly deserved.
