Billy Sharp and Wrexham are one of the big talking points today after the Blades skipper criticised the Welsh side after United won 3-1 last night.

Sharp was apparently unhappy with the way some Wrexham players had gone about their business. The Blades skipper admitted he was delighted to beat them, and seemed to insinuate there’d been some disrespect thrown his and United’s way.

However, speaking on the issue on TalkSPORT, former Liverpool and England man Danny Murphy believes Sharp shouldn’t even worry about such matters.

“If you’re playing in the Championship and you’ve been around the block abit and scored a lot of goals like he has and they’re playing in the National League, then you’re already winning. They’re irrelevant. Them playing for Wrexham is irrelevant to me,” Murphy said.

“It’s like if I’m playing for Liverpool and we play Yeovil or Doncaster or Accrington whatever, you’re irrelevant to me. Whatever you say to me doesn’t matter. As long as we walk off the pitch winning. The only thing I’ve give him some leeway with is if some of their players have given him a bit, then he’s every right to say it back. But just not on the tele.”

There’s obviously something gone on during the game and then down the tunnel that’s riled Sharp. And as usual, he’s not one to mince his words.

Sharp has been outspoken about things in the past. It was he who called out the drop in standards at United when Slavisa Jokanovic was in charge. Sharp has also admitted in the past he loves beating Derby County.

With this, passions have clearly ran high and the sideshow of Wrexham has rattled a few cages.

But in the end, United got the win and that was all that mattered.
