Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has taken aim at Leeds United after his team’s promotion to the Premier League.
The two Yorkshire rivals have been battling it out for second place in the Championship for several months. Yet after Leeds could only draw at home to Aston Villa yesterday, the Blades’ place in the top flight was confirmed.
Their players watched the match together in a bar and celebrated when the final whistle was blown at Elland Road.
Afterwards Wilder gave an interview to the club’s official YouTube channel in which he didn’t hold back on his criticism of some of the Whites’ players.
“We’ve had one defeat in 13 and I’ve got muppets from Leeds talking about the pressure being on us,” he said.
“(Patrick) Bamford and (Adam) Forshaw and a couple of others. It’s over to you and this, that and the other.

“They got beat seven times since Christmas. We’ve been beaten once. We’ve set it up from Christmas to be in the race and we’ve steamrolled it.
“After the international break, two points a game. That’s promotion form right the way through in the pressure part of the season.
“Listen, don’t mention anything about bottle and b******s or about us dipping out.”
Wilder continued: “Everybody wanted Leeds to go up. And we’ve just come absolutely steaming through and deserve to play Premier League football next year.”
What the Leeds players said
When the Blades won 1-0 at Elland Road back in March, Bamford criticised Wilder’s side for how they celebrated the victory. The striker also questioned whether they could “handle the pressure.”
Before the weekend’s results, Forshaw also told the media pressure can do “strange things” in relation to the Blades.
Clearly Wilder and his team have had the last laugh and there is no love lost between the 51-year-old and their county rivals.
