Chris Wilder seemingly hits back at Daniel Farke 'lucky' claim

Chris Wilder has seemingly hit back at Daniel Farke and his claim that the Blades boss has been ‘lucky’ with injuries this term.

The Norwich City manager made the comments prior to the Canaries’ visit to Bramall Lane yesterday. Farke was making reference to the fact the Blades have been able to field more or less the same team each and every week. This is particularly notable in the back five, where only a concussion for John Egan has broken up the trio of Egan, Basham, and O’Connell.

And after seeing his Sheffield United team run out 1-0 winners against Norwich, Wilder insisted there was a good reason he hadn’t had to deal with too many injuries.

“I’ve kept saying, the players and the conditioners deserve an enormous amount of credit”, Wilder said. (BBC Football Heaven)

“The work that they do. We don’t usually pick up soft tissue or muscle injuries. That’s because the players prepare and they work hard and they condition themselves. Yes, we have been a tad fortunate with some of the contact injuries. But the rest is down to the work everyone puts in”.

Although Wilder didn’t directly reference Farke, it was clear he has seen or heard his comments yesterday. The Blades boss was drawn into the conversation after seeing Enda Stevens leave the field with a slight injury once again.

Under Farke’s skin

There is no question that Sheffield United and Chris Wilder seem to rile Daniel Farke somewhat. Despite the German claiming to have the utmost respect for Wilder and his team, it is clear that there is no love lost.

That’s why, then, that today’s win will be all the sweeter for Wilder and his charges.

Today’s win sees the Blades complete a double over the Canaries at Premier League level. It also sees them unbeaten in four against Farke’s men in the last two seasons.
