Chris Wilder has admitted that the club are looking to tie down John Lundstram to a new contract.

The midfielder has been the shining light for United this term. After being relatively unused last season, Lundstram has been an integral part of the midfield this season. He’s scored three times already, putting him level with Lys Mousset in the goal scoring charts.
However, the former Everton man’s deal is set to expire in the summer. Despite playing a key role this term, no new contract has yet been sorted out for Lundstram.
But speaking (BBC) ahead of this weekend’s clash with Manchester United, Chris Wilder admitted Lundstram is high on his agenda.
“Yeah in the meeting I had with the owners, that was part of the meeting. In terms of a core group of players that we see going forward”, Wilder said.

“As a club, we are always proactive in terms of contracts and John is one of those players who we would love to tie down for a number of years”.
Lundstram will be hoping to score once again at Bramall Lane this weekend. His three goals have all come at Bramall Lane. Amazingly, they have all come from similar positions and in the same corner, of the same net.
Why John Lundstram deserves his new deal
There aren’t really enough words to explain just how good Lundstram has been this season. From a man who many expected to not make the cut to someone who is now the first name on the team-sheet. It’s been a remarkable rise for the midfielder.

He fully warrants and deserves his new deal, too. His on-field displays do their own talking but given what he has said about his summer, it seems he’s put a lot of hard work in on his own.
If any player in this Sheffield United team deserves a new deal, it’s Lundstram.
Chris Wilder likes to reward his players if he can and John Lundstram, like so many others in this squad, deserves a new contract.
