Sheffield United defender, Chris Basham, was both gutted and concerned last night as the Blades lost 1-0 to Aston Villa.
The Blades stalwart, although impressed with how United fought back into the game, said that things were a bit ‘deflated’ in the camp following the loss.
And speaking following the loss to Villa, Basham highlighted the key area Chris Wilder has highlighted for improvement in the game against Leeds. (quotes from the Star)
“It was deflating to concede from a set-piece, and as the manager said after the game that’s two in two games now.
“The manager is disappointed with the goal. It’s something to look at and we’ll look to come back stronger against Leeds.”
Basham was one of the star performers for United on the night as his workrate and effort was on full display as Chris Wilder deployed him in a number of positions.
But it wasn’t to be for United, who saw Ezri Konsa head past Aaron Ramsdale to give the Villans their first three points of the season.
The visit of Leeds on Sunday will be a tough test for the Blades. The Whites, under the ever-impressive Marcelo Bielsa, have scored seven goals already, pushing Liverpool close on opening night before beating Fulham 4-3.
It goes without saying, then, that United will need to be at their sharpest defensively. A task that will be made even more difficult by the fact John Egan will be missing through suspension.
