Sheffield United will be boosted – in footballing terms – by news emerging from Chelsea yesterday that Kai Havertz will miss this weekend’s clash.
The German midfielder has just started to spring into life of late for the Blues, seemingly adapting well to his role in Frank Lampard’s young and exciting line-up.
However, Sky Sports have reported that Havertz will miss the clash with the Blades this weekend after testing positive for Covid-19. The German will now follow isolation protocols and will miss the visit of Chris Wilder’s men.
Of course, we wish Havertz a speedy recovery from the virus and hope his Chelsea teammates have managed to steer clear of any further infections.
But on pure footballing terms, this is a boost for the Blades, who will have been well aware of the talents Havertz possesses. It should, though, mean Mason Mount comes in for the Blues. The young England man has been in good form himself.
One less thing to think about I guess!
Chelsea represent another massive test for United this weekend and the reality is, is that we are probably heading into the international break with just a single point.
But, ever the optimist, you have to look for small wins and this is definitely something that will catch the United players’ attention.
It’s always nice to see the opposition without some big hitters, so seeing a player who cost more than £80m missing from the squad is a massive boost to the old confidence!
Let’s hope the Blades can capitalise this weekend and finally get that elusive first three points on the board at Stamford Bridge. Given we smashed them 3-0 last time out, there’s no reason to not be confident.
