With less than a week to go in the January transfer window, Sheffield United’s Sander Berge is reportedly a target for Chelsea.
Berge has been linked with a move to Chelsea in the past. As we know, nothing has ever materialised on that front.
But under big spending Todd Boehly, Chelsea are splashing the cash and remain keen on signing a new midfielder before the window shuts next week. And according to reports, one of this midfielders is Sander Berge.
Well, that’s according to ‘sources’ of the popular Chelsea podcast, Si and Dan Talk Chelsea. They write via their Substack profile that Berge is among a number of midfielders the Blues are watching.

Chelsea’s interest in Berge is nothing brand new as we know. Indeed, it was only back in December that reports from France suggested Berge was an option for the Blues. At the time, it was suggested Chelsea were ready to pay around £14m for the big Norwegian.
Whether or not Chelsea see Berge as their man remains to be fully seen. However, after being linked with a host of top midfielders like Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo, and even Jude Bellingham, Berge would come in as a bit of a downgrade in Chelsea fans’ eyes.

And that’s not to discredit the source at all. They have, in the past, been spot on about Chelsea news and there probably is an element of interest from the Blues here.
However, Berge – who Chris Wilder lauded as the ‘complete‘ midfielder – signing for Chelsea would go down like a lead balloon at Stamford Bridge. Not because Berge is a bad player. But more so that they names they’ve been linked to already far outdo the reputation of the Blades ace.
Naturally, big money could talk here, both in wages and a fee. But for now, Blades fans can probably rest easy when it comes to Chelsea’s immediate interest in Sander Berge.
