The Blades are reportedly already making plans ahead of the January transfer window, with the club sending representatives out to France.

United have made a good start to life in the Premier League. An undefeated October has left them in the top half ahead of today’s visit of Burnley.

However, it appears Chris Wilder is already planning further additions. According to French publication Mercato365, the Blades had someone in France ready to watch Dijon vs Paris St Germain last night.

The report claims that United are not alone in watching the game, though. It is believed both Chelsea and Norwich also had representatives present.

While it isn’t clear who Chris Wilder might have his eye on, it’s not expected to be anyone in the Paris ranks.

The French champions boast one of the most expensively assembled squads in Europe. It’s more likely that Chelsea will be the ones eyeing their talent, rather than the Blades.

Who might they have their eye on

Cape Verde international Julio Taveres might be the obvious name. He’s already scored three times this season as Dijon have gotten off to a decent start in Ligue 1.

Beyond that, goalkeeper Alfred Gomis is the top rated player on Whoscored.com.

However, Sporting Witness have previously claimed Premier League interest in winger Mounir Chouiar. The 20-year-old Frenchman is certainly one to watch in the French game. He impressed last year in Ligue 2 with RC Lens, scoring three times in 25 appearances.

Wilder looking for more

There’s little doubt that Chris Wilder will be looking to add in January. His summer signings have bedded in nicely in the main so far but there’s always scope for improvement.

Attacking areas are bound to be one place he looks to make additions in. None of his strikers have set the world alight as yet. However, Lys Mousset is doing his best to change that, with three goals so far.

There’s also a chance Wilder might look to strengthen his defence. Richard Stearman and Phil Jagielka are the current back-up. United have, however, been linked with a move for Swansea’s Joe Rodon. We’ve already assessed how he might do, here.

Whoever the Blades are looking at, it shows they are branching out their scouting network by taking a trip to France.
