The Blades have been handed a boost with the news that Manchester City goalkeeper, Ederson, will miss this weekend’s game.
Chris Wilder’s men travel to the Etihad to round off their 2019. Avoiding defeat will ensure United have suffered only one away loss in the calendar year. However, the Blades will be fully aware that a tough test awaits in Manchester.
But following the City’s remarkable 3-2 loss against Wolves, the Blades have been handed a boost. That boost comes in the form of Ederson being sent off, thus rendering himself suspended for this weekend.
The Brazilian has been a key man for City this season and has kept six clean sheets already. Aside from his goalkeeping skills, he has also become a key man in initiating attacks for Pep Guardiola’s team.
Ederson though will now miss the clash with the Blades as Guardiola looks to turn his team around in less than 48 hours.

Who will come in to cover for Ederson?
The majority of Blades fans will be pleased to know that the cover at City is one Claudio Bravo. An ex-Barcelona stopper, Bravo has hardly covered himself in glory since moving to City.
In fact, such was the sorry state of his first season with the club, that Guardiola acted immediately to replace him with Ederson.
Both times that Bravo has played in the Premier League this term, City have lost. It’s safe to say that Ederson plays an important part.
Aguero boost
The only saving grace for Guardiola was he managed to remove Sergio Aguero from the action early on. This will ensure the Argentinian is raring to go on Sunday when the Blades arrive.
Aguero has been missing for around a month with injury but is now fit and ready to play. After being withdrawn, he’ll be keen to prove a point to Guardiola this weekend.
However, regardless of Aguero’s fitness, Ederson being missing for City is a massive boost for the Blades.
