Billy Sharp piles praise on Sheffield United loanee Morgan Gibbs-White

Morgan Gibbs-White has made quite the impression on proceedings at Sheffield United since he signed from Wolves, and Billy Sharp admits he’s a great player to have in the first XI.

Gibbs-White has scored twice and laid on another two in just his four appearances so far. And while it’s early days, some are already looking at him as one of the best loan signings in recent years.

The midfielder set up Sharp for his goal at Hull City and was also one of the key players as United saw off Derby at the weekend. And Sharp, speaking to SUTV after that game, praised Gibbs-White for what he brings to the team.

Morgan’s come in and been instrumental. Scoring goals, creating goals. He really gets the crowd off their feet,” Sharp said.

“He’s brilliant to have in the team. He’s always looking for the killer pass which is obviously brilliant for me.”

Wolves do have a January recall option when it comes to Gibbs-White which United fans will be hoping isn’t activated.

Our View: Gibbs-White sensational but Sharp deserves credit too

There is no point in Gibbs-White being so creative if the striker in front of him isn’t moving. And that’s exactly what Sharp is doing at the moment.

Most – including us here – have written Sharp off more than once. But he just keeps proving everyone wrong and long may it continue.

With Gibbs-White, it’s clear we have a fine talent on our hands. Yes, we would love to keep him beyond January. But that is three months away, so for now we should just enjoy what he brings to the table.

A tough physical test now awaits at Middlesbrough. Once again, both Sharp and Gibbs-White will be vital if United are to get anything from the Riverside against Neil Warnock’s men.
