Sheffield United v Watford: Billy Sharp appears at full fitness ahead of key clash

Sheffield United could welcome Billy Sharp back into the mix against Watford this weekend in a huge boost for Paul Heckingbottom.

Sharp missed out at Millwall after injuring his ankle but for once, the injury wasn’t a serious one and Heckingbottom had previously said he’d be back sooner, rather than later.

United take on Watford at Bramall Lane this weekend in a game which could shape the promotion picture. After losing consecutive games, the Blades know they must beat Slaven Bilic’s side to get the confidence back.

And United could welcome Sharp back into the picture, if training clips are to be believed.

Why Pele Is Overrated.

Spotted in the recent Behind Shirecliffe video on YouTube, Sharp can be seen taking full part in the training clips on display. That includes gym work, a small game of football tennis, and then a team sprint competition. Certainly, there appeared to be no sign of serious injury.

Given Iliman Ndiaye’s lack of goals lately, Sharp could come into Heckingbottom’s thinking this weekend.

While it’s hard to really say United should drop McBurnie and Ndiaye, or one of them, there has been so many times in years gone by we’ve called on Sharp and he’s answered.

A lot of the time, he goes out with a point to prove. And against a Watford side who can be got at defensively, Sharp might fancy his chances of nicking a goal.

It would be a big call for Hecky to start Sharp. But he does call on his tried and trusted in big games. And they don’t come anymore tried or trusted than Sharp.

In what is a huge game for United, the skipper could be the answer. And even if he isn’t in from the start, just having on the bench will be a massive boost for the club.
