Arsenal handed double injury blow ahead of Blades visit

Arsenal have been handed a double injury blow ahead of their clash with Sheffield United this weekend.

The Gunners go into the game looking to get one over on the Blades. Last time out at Bramall Lane, a Lys Mousset goal was enough for Chris Wilder’s men to take all three points.

However, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang already missing through suspension, the Gunners will have to do it without a few key men.

Mikel Arteta has confirmed that both Sead Kolasinac and Lucas Torreira are likely to miss out through injury.

“I don’t know, the doctors are assessing him still. He had a normal session yesterday. He has been in some discomfort, we know this season that he had some little niggles. So we have to assess him and see if we can get him fit for Saturday or he will be out,” Arteta said of Kolasinac. (Arsenal FC)

For midfielder Torreira, Arteta confirmed things were looking equally as bleak after the midfielder picked up a knock at Crystal Palace last weekend.

“Very similar situation. He trained yesterday as well, but still not 100 per cent confident so we will have to wait and see again“, Arteta added.

Both players have been regulars for the Gunners this season. With Arteta looking to build momentum, he would have been hoping to have as big a squad as possible to choose from.

A boost for the Blades

This could well play into Sheffield United’s hands. Of all Arsenal’s players, these two are a couple of the more hard-working and tougher players in the Gunners’ camp.

Having both of them missing will leave Arteta’s men facing a problem, especially in the middle of the park. The Blades like to dominate the ball and having Torreira missing in particular, could hinder Arsenal’s hopes.

However, the Gunners do have an excellent squad. Regardless of who plays, Chris Wilder will no doubt have his team prepared and ready to go as they go in search of a league double.
