Ethan Ampadu impressed in midfield on Sunday as Wales beat the Republic of Ireland 1-0 in the Nations League.
Former Sheffield United midfielder David Brooks scored the only goal of the game as Ampadu gave a solid display in the middle.
It gives Blades manager Chris Wilder something else to think about in terms of selection ahead of the Premier League’s return.
Wilder’s side are bottom of the table after eight games, having only picked up one point during that time. Prior to the latest international break, they probably gave their worst performance of 2020/21 so far.
Chelsea were dominant as they beat United 4-1 at Stamford Bridge. Ampadu was ineligible to play against the Blues as he is on loan from the west London club.

Yet after impressing for his country, should the 20-year-old come back into the starting XI this weekend as the Blades host West Ham United on Sunday?
What next for Ampadu after Wales performance?
Wilder needs to find a formula for his side to pick up their first win of the season and quickly.
And West Ham at home represents the perfect opportunity to achieve just that.
Having faced Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea in successive weeks, the Hammers are a side the Blades should be looking to beat.
Prior to their humbling defeat to the Blues, Ampadu had been playing in defensive midfield and had done well.
The Welshman is a versatile player and has also featured in central defence for Wilder’s side already this term.
The Blades boss has previously said Ampadu is going to play a “big part” this season.
Whether that is at the back or in midfield remains to be seen. But with problems in both areas, it would be a huge surprise if Ampadu wasn’t brought back in this weekend.
