Sheffield United appear to be edging ever closer to making some sort of decision on their new manager, if reports and hints are to be believed.
The Blades are actively seeking to replace Chris Wilder, who left the club under a bit of a cloud a few weeks back. Since then, Prince Abdullah has given an explosive interview, essentially blaming Wilder for his own departure, while the decision has also split United’s fanbase.
A number of names have entered the fray and conversation when it comes to Wilder’s replacement. Names such as Eddie Howe were mentioned, although he is now joining Celtic it seems, while Slavisa Jokanovic was another high profile name.
Lately, the name of Alexander Blessin has been doing the rounds, while yesterday, the Mirror claimed that Aston Villa assistant John Terry is also under consideration from the Blades board.
Blessin drops Instagram hint while Terry is an interesting choice
For those who follow social media profiles like hawks, it was interesting to see Blessin make the move to follow Sheffield United on Instagram over the weekend.
Of course, it could mean nothing. But this is a man who only follows 64 people on the platform, so to follow the Blades out of the blue is either a very odd move, or a bit of a coincidence.
With Terry, he is certainly a big name and an interesting one. Like his ex-Chelsea pal Frank Lampard, he would arrive at Bramall Lane with no managerial experience but having learnt the ropes from some of the best.
He’d also be a big name who could attract players, while his experience in the game in general and the amount he’s won means he’d command the respect of the players.
United could do far worse than John Terry in our opinion.
