England and Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has been the focus of attention once more this week, and Blades stopper Aaron Ramsdale is firmly by his side.
Rashford missed a crucial penalty for England as they lost the Euro 2020 final to Italy on Sunday evening. But that’s just half the story, really.
The Manchester United star has been a figure of inspiration around the country in the last 18 months. His penalty miss will sting, but there is no excuse for the vile messages and abuse that came his way in the aftermath.
Taking to Instagram last night, Rashford posted a warming message to his followers. Clearly devastated, the England man once again came across as a class act with his words.
Ramsdale joins the world in standing with Rashford
As expected, Rashford’s post drew plenty of attention from not just the footballing world, but the world in general.
Superstars such as P Diddy, Lewis Hamilton, and NFL star DeAndre Hopkins were all in the comments standing with Rashford. And those world stars were joined by Sheffield United goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale.
Ramsdale, who was with the England squad this summer, posted just a simple five-word message in support of Rashford on Instagram.
It was another classy touch from the Blades stopper. He didn’t play in the entire tournament, but will have learnt so much from the experience.
He was joined by the likes of Dean Henderson and Ravel Morrison too, both who have links to United.
Ramsdale is wanted by Arsenal this summer. But if this is one of the last acts we see from the stopper as a Blade, then it’s a proud moment for all and a testament to Ramsdale’s character as well.
