Sheffield United hammered Peterborough United 6-2 yesterday at Bramall Lane, bringing Slavisa Jokanovic his first win in the Championship as Blades boss.
It was a near perfect afternoon for Jokanovic and his team. The Serbian, buoyed by new signings and the inclusion of Iliman Ndiaye, saw his refreshed side romp to a huge win.
The win felt like a release of 12 months of frustration for the club. In that time, we’ve seen Chris Wilder leave, the club be relegated from the Premier League, and a number of transfer targets slip away. But all that was forgotten with a superb performance against the Posh.
And in what was another welcome nod to the level of performance shown, respected stats site Whoscored.com ranked five Blades players in the top performers in the entire league over the weekend.

Ndiaye, Fleck, and Osborn impress for Sheffield United
It’s not often this happens, but Whoscored actually had five Sheffield United players in their top seven performers of the weekend. In fact, it was only a stunning display from Jordan Zemura (he got a 9.6) which kept Blades forward Iliman Ndiaye (9.4) off top spot.
Just behind Ndiaye were John Fleck and Billy Sharp, who both scored 9.18 and 9.10 respectively. Midfielders Ben Osborn and Morgan Gibbs-White also played their part. They were given 8.99 and 8.64 scores for their efforts.
Those five rounded out a top seven which included Zemura, and former Sheffield United target John Swift, who scored a hat-trick for Reading.
It’s safe to say, then, that Jokanovic – and the United faithful – will have been delighted with that they saw this weekend. And with Preston at home on Tuesday, many will be hoping to carry that momentum into midweek.
Certainly, if another five players can get themselves so high up the Whoscored list, then another three points won’t be far away for the Blades.
