Manchester City midfielder James McAtee is reported in Sheffield waiting to sign for Sheffield United ahead of a new loan move.

The Blades are believed to have won the race to sign McAtee and Paul Heckingbottom is hoping to get him signed in time to play against Everton this weekend at Bramall Lane.

McAtee excelled in red and white last term and there has been a huge push behind the scenes at United to get him to sign again. And it seems that push – and patience – has paid off.

According to Yorkshire Live, McAtee is actually in Sheffield waiting to undergo his medical checks and sign the paperwork for his move to Bramall Lane.

If it’s done before 12pm, then he is likely to go straight into the squad to face Everton tomorrow at The Lane.

McAtee’s arrival will take United’s recruitment to ten players for the summer window. After losing Iliman Ndiaye and Sander Berge, things are looking much rosier now in S2.

Sheffield United News View: Big news to wake up to

This really is fantastic news for Sheffield United fans to wake up to on deadline day.

The signing of James McAtee completes a window which at one point had looked to be heading towards being utterly miserable.

Now, with McAtee and the other signings onboard, the squad now looks more than ready to have a good go at staying in the Premier League.
