Chris Wilder has praised Jayden Bogle after yet another fine performance for Sheffield United.

Bogle once impressed from his wing-back role as the 20-year-old popped up all over the pitch and balanced his defensive and attacking work brilliantly.

“He’s a good footballer,” Wilder told BBC Radio Sheffield.

“He’s got to learn the other parts of the game, which he obviously won’t have been accustomed to playing at Championship level. The players he’s got to come up against, in this division, over the last 15 games are really good players.

“He’s got quality, he gets into great positions and he can finish as well. It’s important we score goals from all over the pitch and Jayden has got that natural ability to do that.”

The form of the youngster has been one of the biggest highlights for the Blades this season.

Signed from Derby County in the summer alongside Max Lowe, it was thought Bogle would serve as backup to George Baldock.

Yet injury has presented the defender with more opportunities than anticipated – and he’s seized his chance.

Bogle scored in his first Premier League appearance after coming off the bench to earn a point at Brighton and Hove Albion.

Yet it is since the turn of the year that the full-back has truly shone.

Bogle has started all but one of United’s 10 matches in all competitions in 2021. During that time he has netted a further two goals and the South Yorkshire side have won six times.

Baldock remains side-lined with a hamstring injury. But even when he returns to fitness, it would be doubtful if he’d take Bogle’s place in the starting XI.

Whether the Blades stay up or not this term, the England Under-20 international represents a bright present and future for the club.
