Who is the mystery injury Chris Wilder alluded to in his latest Blades presser?

Sheffield United fans are panicking a tad today as Chris Wilder admitted yesterday there could be more injury woe for the Blades.

Despite having Lys Mousset and John Fleck firmly back in the thick of things and both players ready for this weekend’s clash with West Brom, Wilder could have a few other issues.

One of those players is Enda Stevens, with Wilder admitting in his presser yesterday that the Irishman has ‘a problem’ and will be given until the last moment to prove his fitness.

However, it was the next comment from Wilder which caused concern.

“I won’t disclose who it is, but we’ve another player who is touch and go for this weekend, so we’ll have to see on that one,” Wilder said.

Given United’s injury problems this season, another injury is the last thing Wilder and Knill need. But just who could the Blades boss be alluding to?

Ampadu the most likely but nothing confirmed

It’s impossible to tell who might be missing given we obviously don’t have access to the training ground. The closest we get is the videos the social media team deliver week in week out of the behind the scenes action.

The natural conclusion to draw is that Ethan Ampadu could be the man missing. The Chelsea loanee came off last weekend with a knock and Wilder went on to speak about contact injuries.

Outside of Ampadu, Wilder keeping his cards close to his chest may suggest it’s a first-team regular.

Blades fans, then, will be praying the likes of John Egan, Sander Berge, and George Baldock are fully-fit.

As usual, we await the team news before finding out for sure who Wilder was talking about.
