Ahead of Sheffield United’s trip to West Ham on Monday, the Hammers appear to have been handed a timely injury boost.
Although fears have been raised over a number of players being fit for the clash with the Blades, including the fitness of Michail Antonio, sources close to West Ham believe the former Owls forward, and others, will play.
Via respected West Ham site Claret and Hugh, it is claimed Antonio will indeed feature agains the Blades on Monday evening.
The news will be a welcome relief for David Moyes, who didn’t sign a striker in the January window and has seen his side struggle without the pace of Antonio when he’s been missing.
Further, per ExWHUemployee, the Hammers are also likely to have Jarrod Bowen, Fabian Balbuena, and Issa Diop all fit and available.
Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder will have planned for the strongest team, so it shouldn’t make too much difference for the Blades manager.
Antonio fitness boost for West Ham is a problem for Sheffield United
Not that we wish injury on anyone on this site, but it would have been nice to face West Ham without having to worry about Antonio.
Not just because he’s a class player, but the supersitious among us will be convinced his Sheffield Wednesday links mean he’s nailed on to score.
Likewise with Jesse Lingard, who United tracked throughout January.
It’s a tough game for the Blades regardless, so the Hammers having the likes of Antonio and Bowen available only makes things that bit harder.
