It’s a long trip down to Wales for Sheffield United this afternoon as they look to continue their fine run of form by beating Cardiff City in the Championship.
The Blades enter the game off the back of a 2-0 win against Bristol City in Paul Heckingbottom’s first game in charge of the club. That result followed a draw and win under previous coach, Slavisa Jokanovic. A win could even see United climb into the top ten, depending on results elsewhere.
Cardiff had previously been on a miserable run of form, losing nine from ten. However, they’ve turned it around in recent weeks, with three wins from four, two of which came away from home. Confidence, then, is high among the Bluebirds squad.
Team News
It’s more or less business as usual for Sheffield United and Paul Heckingbottom but there are one or two concerns among the squad.
SAKA, ANTONY AND 10 PREMIER LEAGUE STARS HEADING TO THEIR FIRST WORLD CUP
Heckingbottom confirmed both Ollie Norwood and Rhian Brewster will be given until the last minute to prove their fitness. Brewster is the one most will hope is fit, given he is riding high at the minute. Norwood, in fairness, is also key, although Sander Berge could be ready to step in if needed.
In defence, there’s been no word on George Baldock but he has been training. Whether he is fit enough to come back in for Jayden Bogle, remains unanswered.
Finally, in attack, Heckingbottom must decide on his bench really. Oli McBurnie is back and will be desperate to be involved. Lys Mousset also posted on Instagram this week to hint at his own fitness.
Predicted Sheffield United XI at Cardiff City
We expected Heckingbottom to stick with the same back five. He mentioned players will be picked on performances, and there’s no reason to drop anyone at the moment after three clean-sheets. Sander Berge could benefit from Norwood’s fitness doubts. While we expect Rhian Brewster to play, with Sharp, McBurnie and Mousset possibly all on the bench.
