Liverpool to potentially have Alisson available? Klopp drops major hint

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has teased that the Reds may well have goalkeeper, Alisson Becker, available for the game with Sheffield United this weekend.

The Brazilian stopper had been expected to miss a number of weeks until at least the end of October through injury.

Along with Virgil van Dijk, Alisson’s loss is a massive dent to the Reds’ defensive unit, which was so impressive last season in their title winning campaign.

But speaking ahead of the game with the Blades, Klopp has suggested that a number of players, including Alisson, may yet be involved in the clash at Anfield.

“So, let me say it like this with the others, apart from Ox and Virg, obviously, and maybe Kostas, who gets closer and closer but is not at all in contention for this game or the next one,” Klopp said. (Liverpool FC)

“All the others, we have to see day by day pretty much. It’s a lot of conversations with the medical department – for who it makes sense, for who it is too early and all these kinds of things.”

That comment from Klopp could see Alisson, Thiago, and Joel Matip all return to the fold for Liverpool, who are coming into the game off the back of a 1-0 win over Ajax in midweek.

Sadio Mane is also expected to play, despite leaving the field and needing an ice-pack.

Can we just get a bit of luck, please?

Not that I wish injury on anyone but having Van Dijk and Alisson missing for Liverpool was a good reason to think that maybe, just maybe, we might get something from Anfield.

Of course, that might still happen. Our backs are against the wall and we need to come out fighting and with a point to prove.

However, if Alisson is back, it’s a huge boost for Liverpool. He’s the best goalkeeper in the world on his day and will provide the entire Reds XI with a massive lift if he’s included.
