Boost for Sheffield United as Joachim Andersen ruled out for Fulham

While injuries seem to be playing their part at Bramall Lane lately, United fans will be pleased to know that this week’s opponents, Fulham, are also having a dose of bad luck.

Having conceded goals left, right, and centre this season, Scott Parker used the final days of the transfer window to bring in some defensive reinforcements ready for the trip to up the M1.

However, in an unfortunate turn of events for the Cottagers, new signing, Joachim Andersen, will now miss the game with the Blades and be out for a few weeks at least.

Scott Parker confirmed (BBC), that Andersen had picked up an ankle injury and conceded he’ll be missing for the ‘foreseeable future’, which includes this weekend’s clash with United.

That could mean a first start for new signing and Blades-linked defender, Terence Kongolo, while former Sheffield Wednesday man Michael Hector may also play. Antonee Robinson could also start for Parker’s team, after being heavily-linked with a move to Sheffield in the summer.

Both sides have lost all four games but this injury, as bad as it is for Andersen, will be something Chris Wilder will definitely be pleased about ahead of the tie.

United have to go for it

For all the talk of a poor start for United, the one thing we have done is defend pretty well, barring a few mistakes.

Fulham, on the other hand, have been poor at the back and looked lost at sea against the likes of Leeds, Arsenal, and Aston Villa. Wilder, then, will surely look to exploit that. It could mean Rhian Brewster is chucked straight into the mix, despite concerns over his fitness.

This is a must-win game for both sides but even more so for us Blades. Another loss would be a nightmare, especially with the difficult run of games to come afterwards.
