A Daily Mail interview with Manchester United’s Dean Henderson has cast his proposed move to Sheffield United into doubt.
Henderson impressed on loan at Bramall Lane last season and was expected to return to the Blades for 2019/20 following their promotion to the Premier League.
However, the 22-year-old says he thinks he’s ready for the Red Devils first team. The article also says that any suitors he does have will be from England’s top flight.
The Sheffield Star reports that a reunion with Chris Wilder’s men remains likely. Yet it was also said the deal would be completed before Henderson left for the European Under-21 Championships. That has not happened.
Which other Premier League clubs could be interested in Henderson?
Aston Villa
Like the Blades, Villa are preparing for life back in the Premier League following promotion. According to Sky Sports, signing a top class goalkeeper is a priority.
Stoke City’s Jack Butland is being considered, but it will cost in excess of £20m to land the England international.
MORE UNITED STORIES
It’s unlikely Henderson would choose a fellow promoted side over the Blades, however.
Bournemouth
The Cherries have also been linked with Butland by the same report. Asmir Begovic fell out of favour towards the end of the last campaign, with veteran Artur Boruc and youngster Mark Travers playing instead.
Henderson would arguably represent an upgrade on all three and the Dorset outfit were linked with him in March by The Sun (17/03, page 57).

Crystal Palace
The third and final team thought to be interested in Butland – according to the Daily Star – who could cost up to £30m.
Yet while the Stoke stopper was average at best in the Championship last term, Henderson excelled with a record 21 clean sheets.
Norwich City
The same Sun article linking Bournemouth with Henderson also reported that Norwich were interested. The Sheffield Star says that the Canaries were among those trying to sign the England Under-21 international in 2018 before he joined the Blades.
They could be looking for an upgrade or competition for Tim Krul. Once again, though, would Henderson choose another promoted side other Wilder’s men?
