Sheffield United defender John Egan was once again in ‘exceptional’ form as the Blades beat Burnley 3-0.

A rampant first-half saw John Lundstram score twice and John Fleck add another for the Blades. The game was more or less won at half-time. Burnley struggled to create anything and manager Sean Dyche has admitted that he might have to change things next week.
Despite the superb attacking football on display, United were once again rock solid at the back.
Marshalled by John Egan yet again, Jack O’Connell and Chris Basham were near faultless in their performances alongside the Irishman.

MORE UNITED STORIES
It is Egan, though, who is coming in for big praise from United fans. Eyebrows were raised when he was signed for £4m a few seasons back but he has been nothing short of brilliant.
However, after playing a crucial role last season in promotion, Egan is excelling in the Premier League.
After taking to Twitter today to thank the fans and praise his team’s performance, there was plenty of praise directed his way from Blades fans…
One worry for some fans was Egan’s late injury. The Irishman hobbled off towards the end and some fans took the chance to ask him how he was doing…
Best in the league
Egan’s commanding performance ensured it was another clean-sheet for the Blades.
That’s now five this season for Chris Wilder’s men. They have the best defence in the league, conceding less than Liverpool after the Reds let one in at Aston Villa today.

On any other day, Egan could easily have been man of the match. However, his performances are becoming so consistent, it’s hard to ever give him a bad write-up.
We have already looked at the players from today and given them our ratings, here.
The Blades travel to Spurs next weekend before Egan and some of his other teammates head off for international duty.
