Sheffield United are continuing to keep an eye on Canada midfielder, Ismael Kone, as he plays at the World Cup over in Qatar right now.
Kone was said to be a target for United back in September. Interest in Kone became apparent when it looked like Sander Berge might leave for Club Brugge at one point. However, Berge remained in Sheffield and a move for Kone was put on ice.
However, according to Yorkshire Live, United are continuing to monitor Kone. It appears the Blades are keeping a close eye on Kone ahead of January, with the World Cup the ideal chance to watch him.
Kone came on and impressed for Canada in their opening World Cup game against Belgium. The midfielder was unlucky to be on the losing side as a missed Alphonso Davies penalty meant Michy Batshuayi’s goal was enough for Roberto Martinez’s side.

Whether or not a move for Kone depends on promotion or a big player sale at Bramall Lane, remains to be seen.
But the fact he remains a target suggests plans are in place should Paul Heckingbottom get the green light. Unless someone is sold in January, it would seem Kone’s arrival is unlikely. But with promotion potentially on the cards, Kone could be one who United revisit in the summer.
Sheff U News View: Kone one to watch for United fans
There was a lot to like about Ismael Kone when he came on for Canada. He was quick, aggressive, and put himself about well against a top Belgium side.
He is a good age at the moment and clearly, is someone the club like. If Sander Berge is sold, then Kone looks to be a good replacement.
Canada have two more games to go as well. That means it’s a chance for the scouting team and United fans to watch Kone a bit more.
