Reported Sheffield United target, Declan Gallagher, believes both he and others can draw inspiration from Liverpool star, Andy Robertson.
Gallagher, 29, is said to be a target for the Blades as they eye defensive reinforcements in January. Currrently at Motherwell, the former Celtic man has been impressing north of the border this season.
The Blades could move for Gallagher as they eye a replacement for Jack O’Connell, while Ethan Ampadu is only on loan and Phil Jagielka is at the back end of his illustrious career.
However, despite being nearly 30, Gallagher has previously spoken of how Liverpool star Robertson can be an inspiration for him.
“Look where he is now. He’s a Champions League winner, playing for the best team in England,” Gallagher told The Herald in October.
“He was at Queen’s Park and then Dundee United, so he has experienced life at the bottom of Scottish football and is now at the top of European football, so I think everybody can take inspiration from him – even myself, at the age of 29. I can take inspiration from him and just see that if you keep working hard and have dedication that you can go right to the top.”
Robertson has been instrumental in Liverpool’s success under Jurgen Klopp and is now captain for his country, too.
Gallagher, meanwhile, would likely see a move to Bramall Lane as an opportunity too good to pass up if it came about. However, it remains to be seen if United will indeed make their move.
