Sheffield United could face interest from West Ham United this summer when it comes to their star defender, John Egan.
The Blades defender has been one of the standout performers once again this season and since moving back to being part of a three in defence, has looked very much the defender he showed himself to be in the Premier League. Indeed, that form attracted interest from Everton around two years ago.
And now, according to reports from The Sun over the weekend, West Ham have been scouting Egan intensively this season as they look to add to their ranks.
Egan has been at the heart of things for United ever since Chris Wilder signed him for around £4m. The Irishman is under contract until 2024, having signed improved terms in 2020.

The defender’s future could very much depend on which league United are in next season. The playoffs remain a possibility for the Blades and promotion could well happen. However, if not, then players are likely to be sold as budget constraints once again kick in.
Our View: Egan Only Leaves Sheffield United For Good Money
Given he has two years on his contract and he’s one of the better players in this squad, then United need to make sure they get a good fee from West Ham if this does happen.
What that fee will be, remains to be seen and is open to guesswork. Newcastle have just paid £13m for Dan Burn, so whether the Blades could demand that or slightly less would be as good a barometer as anything.
However, for now, United need Egan at his best. He is, essentially, the last man standing in a the first-choice back five.
