Sheffield United take on West Brom at Bramall Lane tonight knowing a win sees the Blades return to promotion.
Paul Heckingbottom’s men know that three points will cap off what has been an almighty effort from United throughout the season. Only then, will Heckingbottom allow his players to celebrate or take the foot off the gas.
Of course, all the talk is about United but it’s easy to forget West Brom are a good side looking to land a playoff spot.
And speaking before the clash, Albion manager Carlos Corberan fired a warning to United, insisting that the ‘on fire’ crowd should serve to motivate his players.
Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.
“It’s the most important thing to focus on the performance. We know we’re going to be playing against a very demanding team in a stadium I expect to be on fire to help their team win three points,” Corberan said.
“But this can only increase our motivation to play the game. It can only increase our energy in the game, which is going to be very important.”
Corberan has taken the Baggies from nowhere to be within a shout of the playoffs. However, their form has been inconsistent and they have as many as nine players out injured.
The Blades, then, should be confident in their ability to see the game off in front of a packed Bramall Lane.
Sheffield United News View: Blades must not take foot off the gas
If ever there was a time for this Sheffield United side to deliver and produce the goods, tonight is the night.
Blades fans are used to nights of disappointment down the years. But this team under Paul Heckingbottom has a different feel and a fast start has to be on the agenda.
If United can start well, get the crowd going, and take an early lead, then it’s a game that should be won.
However, Albion are a decent side with good players. The likes of John Swift, Karlan Grant and Jed Wallace are more than capable of producing.
The Blades, then, need to be right at it from minute one.
