Talksport pundit Tony Cascarino has had his say on any sort of talk that is beginning to fester about Chris Wilder and Sheffield United parting ways.
Not that those sorts of rumours are surfacing around S2, but the media being as it is has started to pose the question given United’s poor run of form since the end of last season and into this. Last night’s loss at Liverpool meant the Blades have just one point from a possible 18 this term.
But Cascarino has rubbished any sort of talk, and said it would be ‘complete madness’ if United were to get rid of Wilder.
“Chrissy Wilder is the man for Sheffield United. You cannot question it, and Jurgen Klopp said it yesterday after the game,” Cascarino said.
“Do I think they should consider a change? No, it would be absolute madness. And I’ll tell you what would happen, there’d be a number of clubs who’d take him in a heartbeat”.
Wilder has led the Blades from League One to the Premier League and is now in his fifth season at the Lane.
Complete nonsense to even suggest it
Obviously the media will always talk about these things and fans looking in might think we have been sussed or need a change at the top of the club.
But any actual Blade will know that Cascarino is spot on here. Where would we go from Wilder at the moment? Down, that’s where.
He gets more from this group of players that any manager could. The fact is that a lot of our squad wouldn’t be in the Premier League if it wasn’t for the boss. Such has been his influence.
Any talk of us getting rid is simply noise and nonsense. And if anyone believes he should be going, then quite simply, they are wide of the mark.
