Sheffield United boss, Chris Wilder, has confirmed that the club is looking to complete deals for a number of players early next week as he confirmed things have ‘ramped up’ in terms of incoming.
Wilder confirmed the news to BBC Radio Sheffield’s Adam Oxley following the 2-2 draw with Preston yesterday.
The Blades boss seemed to hint at new players arriving in both wing-back positions, while he also talked about a potential new signing at the heart of defence as well ‘two at the top of the pitch’.
Wilder also confirmed the club had held an interest in Matty Cash before the Forest full-back eventually decided to join Aston Villa.
The gaffer also confirmed that a couple of the ones incoming are away on international duty at the moment, a suggestion that whoever is coming to the club possesses plenty of quality at the top level.
So with international fixtures set to conclude over the weekend, just who could the players be who Wilder is hinting at?

The most obvious name to pick out among those mentioned as being away on international duty is Oliver Burke, who was on the bench as Scotland drew 1-1 with Israel last night. The forward has been touted as being included in a deal which could see Callum Robinson go to West Brom in the opposite direction.
In terms of the others, we would be purely speculating. Wilder has suggested he has his eyes on foreign targets so with the Nations League taking place this weekend, it would suggest it is someone European incoming.
There is also a chance it could be a younger player, given the under-21s have also been in action. Liverpool forward, Rhian Brewster, is among the England squad. The striker has been heavily linked with a move to Bramall Lane, so it could well be that Wilder has more or less closed out a deal for the youngster.
One thing is for sure, though, and that’s that the early days of next week should be exciting for us Blades fans.
