Sheffield United scraped their way past Carlisle United this evening to secure their place in the next round of the Carabao Cup.
Bramall Lane played host to a very small crowd of less than 7000 on a warm Tuesday evening. Those fans were treated to a number of players from the academy making the XI, while Rhian Brewster also got his first goal for the Blades.
Brewster followed in a Billy Sharp effort to get himself off the mark in red and white. But while the relief at seeing Brewster score was obvious, it was young defender, Kacper Lopata, who got the attention.
Lopata put in a solid display at the back and contributed in both boxes thanks to his height and presence. His performance will be a huge boost to Slavisa Jokanovic, who is low on central defenders anyway.

Blades fans, then, were suitably impressed with Lopata, and Twitter was full of comments praising the young defender.
