4-3-1-2, Ndiaye starts: How Sheffield United could line up at Blackpool

It’s slim pickings for Sheffield United manager Paul Heckingbottom, who takes his injury ravaged squad to take on an in-form Blackpool team on the coast tonight.

As many as 11 first-team players could be missing for United. The latest worries come in the form of Ben Davies, John Fleck, and Oli McBurnie. After the weekend’s defeat to Coventry, it’s imperative that United bounce back in some way against the Seasiders.

Sheffield United Team News For Blackpool

In terms of freshening things up, Heckingbottom hasn’t got much choice. He could look to add more energy in the attacking third, with Iliman Ndiaye and Daniel Jebbison likely to be considered. In defence, Kyron Gordon is likely to continue in the back three, although Kacper Lopata is also an option.

McBurnie hasn’t been ruled out due to a dead leg but is touch and go. Ben Davies and John Fleck are likely to still come up short, with Barnsley a more realistic target for those two. The midfield three could well pick itself, with Oli Norwood and Conor Hourihane the only fit two along with Sander Berge. Heckingbottom could choose to put Morgan Gibbs-White in the three, with Ndiaye coming in alongside Sharp.

A change of shape could also come into the thinking, with four at the back likely to be in Heckingbottom’s mind purely because of the defenders missing.

Predicted Sheffield United Line-Up

We think the back five will remain the same despite the hammering at Coventry. Having Ben Davies back would be a bonus but he’s likely to be kept safe for Barnsley.

The most obvious change we see is Ndiaye brought in and Gibbs-White playing more as a ten as part of a four man midfield.

Here, then, is how we see Sheffield United lining up against Blackpool this evening.
